24 Hour Relay for 2008

Saline's 14th Annual Relay to be held in May

What is the 2008 Saline Community 24-Hour Relay?

Saturday, May 24 @ 9am to Sunday, May 25 @ 9am

Saline Middle School Track and Field

The relay is a non-competitive endurance experience! A celebration of community spirit!

A fund-raising project that benefits the entire community! Over the last 14 years – the Relay has raised

more than $80,000 to support Drug & Alcohol prevention programs in our school and community!

Here’s how it works…

· All registration pledges, donations and contributions to the 24-Hour Relay are TAX DEDUCTIBLE and stay

in our community to support: DARE (Drug Awareness Resistance Education- 5th grade), STAND (Students

Taking A New Direction- 7/8th grades), SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions- 9-12th grades) and

community prevention programs.

· Relay is limited to a maximum of 30 (10-person) teams (all students, all adult or a mix).

· All student teams are required to have at least one student captain and two adult (over 25) coaches who will

commit to stay with the team through the entire 24-hours. Registrations will only be accepted from teams that

have two adult coaches confirmed at registration.

· Team fees remain the same: $350 per student team; $500 per adult team

Combined teams- $35 per student (18 and under) and $50 per adult

· Team names, t-shirts, campsite decorations and theme should be appropriate and reflect the intent and purpose

of the relay- no drugs, alcohol, smoking, violence or sex. All of the above will be subject to review by the

team participation committee and directors.

· All teams are required to provide three additional volunteers to work a 4 hour block sometime during the relay.

Volunteer sheets are in the packets and must be returned with your registration.

· Saturday dinner, midnight pizza, water, juice, fruit will be provided. Beyond that, teams should coordinate

bringing other essential food and snacks.

· No team member or coach should leave the site during the 24-hour period. Please arrange with parents or

friends to be “on call” should you need assistance.

· Registration packets available at: High School & Middle School Offices and Community Education
